Key principles of MeRT℠ therapy

qEEG Measurement Interpretation

Brainwave therapy hinges on accurate interpretation. This interpretation is performed with patented technology by a single dedicated research lab in the United States. We measure brainwaves with qEEG equipment co-developed over many years to ensure clean, reliable signals, which are then precisely interpreted by multiple systems and scientists.

Resonance Therapy

Resonance therapy precisely identifies a patient's unique brainwave frequency and generates a protocol optimized for that individual. The patient's specific motor threshold is measured, and magnetic resonance therapy is delivered based on it — efficiently transferring energy at the patient's own brain frequency. None of this is possible without accurate brainwave interpretation.

Over 15 years of clinical experience

BTC operates more than 105 centers worldwide and, as of 2023, has treated over 18,000 patients across approximately 275,000 sessions. Of those, 47% were autism patients and 22% were PTSD, OCD, or depression patients. We see high success rates among these patients, and that body of experience has brought us to a world-class standard.

Clear treatment objective

For those with delayed brainwave development or who wish to improve brain function, MeRT applies its proprietary methodology to train the brain and restore brainwave patterns toward the normal range — a clearly defined therapeutic goal.

"Each person has their own unique brainwaves..."

Dr. ErikWon of MeRT
Dr. Erik Won
"We learn that every person carries their own unique frequency and characteristics. While awake, alpha waves are active to keep the brain in its most relaxed working state. Alpha waves generally cycle between 8–13 Hz across people. For example, your brain might operate at 11.4 Hz, mine at 8.9 Hz, and someone else's at 10.3 Hz. We are born with this. But physical trauma from blasts or injury, chemical trauma from years of medication use, or emotional trauma from witnessing the loss of a loved one — any of these can disrupt how the brain operates, creating problems with interconnectivity… "EEG testing reveals when there are anomalies in the neural network. We can read these signals to find atypical regions and confirm them using FDA-cleared technology. By stimulating specific regions of the brain at specific frequencies and pulse rates, we can improve and enhance brain function."

"We stand on the shoulders of giants"

It is thanks to extensive prior research that BTC has reached its current technical achievement.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does MeRT work?

From each patient's qEEG (quantitative EEG), we identify regions where signals are weakened or imbalanced, and gently stimulate those regions with low-intensity magnetic waves to help reorganize neural activity.

How do magnetic waves (rTMS) affect the brain?

Magnetic waves generated outside the scalp pass through the skull and stimulate neurons in the targeted brain regions. The stimulation supports signal transmission and is calibrated within ranges that are safe for the human body.

How does MeRT differ from standard TMS?

Standard TMS follows a fixed protocol; MeRT designs stimulation location, intensity, and frequency individually based on each patient's qEEG analysis.

Is the magnetic intensity safe for humans?

Yes. We use FDA-cleared equipment, and the medical team ensures treatment is performed within safe parameters.

Why is qEEG important?

Even with the same symptoms, brain patterns differ by person. qEEG serves as an individual brain-function map, providing the reference for where and how to stimulate.

Why do treatment outcomes differ between people?

Brain patterns, the cause of symptoms, and individual environments are all different. The medical team iterates evaluation → treatment → feedback → adjustment to find the best approach for each individual.
