In many cases PTSD will manifest as the result of disruption in the front of the brain. It is commonplace to see two competing alpha frequencies in the frontal lobe and slow rolling waveforms (delta & theta waves) drowning out what should be a single strong alpha frequency.

BTC’s qEEG recording allows us to identify the veteran’s intrinsic alpha frequency, which is used to inform the individualized protocol with the goal of reducing competing brainwave activity. As the chaos of the brainwave activities subsides, an improvement in sleep, cognitive processing, emotional stability, and overall sense of wellbeing is often realized.

Patients saw a 62% reduction in PCL-M score with MeRT

In a recent double-blinded randomized controlled trial, over 4-weeks, patients saw a 62% reduction in PCL-M score with MeRT. Patients treated with MeRT improved more than sham patients over the course of treatment.

Is MeRT treatment safe?

MeRT is a non-invasive magnetic stimulation treatment using FDA-cleared equipment, with no anesthesia or drug injection. It is applied after medical evaluation, and no significant adverse events have been reported.

Can MeRT be received while taking PTSD medication (SSRIs, anxiolytics, etc.)?

Yes. MeRT is designed as a complement to medication, not a replacement. Existing prescriptions can be continued.

What PTSD symptoms have shown change with MeRT?

Meaningful changes have been observed in sleep, hyperarousal, avoidance, and intrusion symptoms. Outcomes vary by individual condition and environment.

Does MeRT apply to active-duty and veteran PTSD?

Yes. Regardless of the cause of trauma, treatment can be applied once medical evaluation confirms suitability.

When do effects appear?

This varies by individual, but changes are typically observed over a 4–6 week treatment course. Progress is monitored through repeat qEEG measurements.

How long is the treatment period?
